Furniture Protection Supplies You Should Gather

Are you moving houses soon? If so, now's the time to start thinking about how you'll protect your furniture. When you plan accordingly, you can make sure your furniture arrives at your new property free from scratches and breakages. To make that happen, you'll need to gather the following supplies.

Bubble Wrap

Bubble wrap can protect all kinds of furniture. Its cushioned nature means it acts as a barrier between the items you're moving and anything that could cause them harm. It's ideal for highly-fragile items such as glass, as it can stop them from cracking and shattering. Similarly, it'll guard your wood furniture against scratches. If you want to take an eco-friendly approach, try biodegradable bubble wrap. It'll still protect your furniture, but with fewer environmental harms.

Old Socks

If you have lots of odd socks floating around, don't throw them away as a part of your decluttering efforts. Instead, gather them and use them on furniture that you want to protect from scratches. Place your old socks over table legs and other such items, then secure them at the top with tape or string. Make sure you tie the tape or string around the sock itself so that you don't scratch or discolour your furniture.

Blankets

You have a couple of options when it comes to using blankets for moving house. As with old socks, you can gather old blankets and use them to cover items that are prone to scratching. For example, wooden tables and leather sofas can be protected with blankets. If your furniture is particularly delicate, you might want to try buying moving blankets. They have the right softness and thickness to keep furniture safe. Alternatively, you can ask the furniture removalists you use if they have moving blankets handy. They may ask you for furniture dimensions so they can source the right blankets, so make sure they're available when you make an inquiry.

Packing Tape

Having protective materials in place isn't much use when you don't have the right tape. Make sure you buy plenty of packing tape so that you can stick everything down after you cover your furniture. Providing you don't place the tape on the furniture itself, you can use plenty of it. If you do have to place any on the furniture, make sure you choose tape that's unlikely to leave any lasting marks.

Finally, if you don't have all the materials you need, ask the furniture removalist team you use for assistance.
